Church Constitution

of Orchard Mesa Baptist Church

in Grand Junction Colorado

PREAMBLE

We declare and establish this Constitution to preserve and secure the principles of our faith and to govern the Church in an orderly manner while pursuing its ministry. This constitution will guide the Church in conducting the ministry of Jesus Christ locally, nationally or across all borders as He leads. We adopt the following Articles for our administrative organization, plan of worship and service.

This Constitution is a guide and not final authority, as stated in Article II Paragraph 2 of this document. The Bible is the “verbally inspired word of God”, it’s teachings will always take precedence over this document. At no time and or for any reason, with the Bible be left out of any discussion, debate or disagreement or discussion!


ARTICLE I: NAME OF CHURCH

The name of this Church is TRINITY BAPTIST CHURCH doing business as (dba) ORCHARD MESA BAPTIST CHURCH. (SBC)


ARTICLE II: MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of this Church is to win souls for Christ. To nurture growth by ministering to the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of all our members. To serve our Lord in unity of spirit and in a joyful, but reverent manner; always setting a good Christian example. To the above ends, we will provide an adequate place to worship in love and friendliness, and to the extent of our ability, promote missionary enterprises as led by the Lord.

ARTICLE III: STATEMENT OF FAITH

This Church subscribes to the doctrinal statement of the BAPTIST FAITH and MESSAGE as adopted by the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) in the year 2000.

ARTICLE IV: MEMBERSHIP

It is required that membership be through one of the following:

By acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and personal Savior and baptism by immersion as outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message.  By transfer of membership letter from another Church as long as that Church practices Salvation and baptism by immersion as described in the Baptist Faith and Message.

Or as otherwise outlined in the Bylaws.


Article V:

Property

Section 1. This Church exercises the right to own property in order to fulfill the stated purpose of this church.

Section 2. Elders shall hold the title to any and all Church property and are overall responsible for the safety and upkeep of the church property. They will be elected into this position by the Church body and serve as long as they desire and they continue to meet all requirements, with a limit of 5 Elders per 100 members.

Article VII:
Amendments

Section 1. This constitution may be amended by the following procedure a copy of the proposed amendment will be produced at a regular business meeting and held over until the next scheduled business meeting and will take a majority of a Quorum vote to pass.

ARTICLE VIi: CHURCH ORGANIZATION

The Church organization is made up of the following:

Pastor
Associate Pastor(s)
Elders
Deacons
Treasurer
Clerk
And other officers and directors listed in the By-laws


ARTICLE VII: AMENDMENTS

We reserve the right to future amendments to this Constitution as outlined in the By-laws.
